Time machine (time capsule) only shows backups up to yesterdays

When I open my time machine, i can only see backups up to yesterdays. All of the fields on the right side previous to yesterdays are greyed out and look like as if there were no backups done before. I tried restarting the time capsule in airport utility, doing a hard reset by cutting off the power and turning it back on and erasing the disk. I know questions like these exist already, but they are outdated and the links, leading to answers aren't working for me anymore. Please help!

If you erased the Time Capsule disk....as you have told us......you erased all of the data in your previous Time Machine backups.

When you do this, Time Machine displays a "ghost" of your previous back up dates, to indicate that the backups were there in the past, but the actual data that was in the backups is now gone.....because the disk was erased.

Time Machine would then start over again with a new complete backup of your Mac and move forward from that point.

You started a new backup 2 weeks ago, but unfortunately, Time Machine started another backup 2 days ago....because it detected an issue with the backups that started 2 weeks ago.

You might be able to "see" your backups that started two weeks ago if you......

Hold down the option key on your Mac while you click on the Time Machine "clock" icon at the top of the Mac's screen

Click on Browse Other Backup Disks

Select the other disk.....if....another disk appears

See if your backups that started two weeks ago are there

If.....they appear, this is what you will need to do if you want to access the backups that started over about 2 weeks ago and stopped about 2 days ago. Unfortunately, this type of occurrence is appearing more and more often, especially with users who have High Sierra installed on their Macs.

I would expect that you will see the same type of issue appear again, but it is not possible to predict when that might occur.

Next, please hold down the shift key while you click on the Time Machine clock icon at the top of the Mac's screen

Click on Back Up With Consistency Scan

This will run a Verify Disk operation.....that might take 10-15 minutes or so....and then run another backup.

If any error messages appear, post back with the exact message that you see.
