Garageband - not listing USB Midi Interface

Macbook Pro mid 2014/ High Sierra 10.13.4/Garageband 10.

The external keyboard is connected properly, and tested in MIDI Setup, drivers good. Garageband does not list my USB MIDI Interface, how do I fix this.

I want to be able to record from the keyboard and play back through the keyboard from Garageband. Also, Garageband is not recognizing voice from the external Mic, only from the built-in internal Macbook Mic. I need to disable the Macbook built-in Mic and only record from the external Mic.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

there should be nothing to fix.

only audio interfaces are displayed in the list of choices, MIDI connections are automatically detected if the device is Mac compatible.

in GB's prefs you should see "1 MIDI device detected"

unfortunately GB does not support MIDI-OUT, so GB can't play your keyboard.

you need to select your mic in GB's prefs:

MOTU USB Fastlane Interface is compatible with Mac. Preferences/Audio/MIDI states "2 MIDI Inputs detected". AS for Devices area the Output Device only lists System Settings, Built-in Output and DisplayPort and the Input Device lists System Settings, Built-in Microphone and Manycam Virtual Microphone.

For some reason I am not able to send the keyboard signal to the GB to record.

since you don't have any other output devices connected (e.g. an audio interface) that sounds right

what is the make/model of your external mic? how is it connected to your Mac?
