Autofill Not Working in Safari 11 Using High Sierra

Hi all, I have seen people complaining of issues with autofill in Safari 11 with earlier operating systems. I have the latest updates to both High Sierra and Safari and autofill does not work for me. I have the right field checked in passwords in preferences and my contact card is fully filled out... Anyone else having this problem and a solution? Suggestions appreciated. Autofill used to work quite well in the past for me.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), 32Gb RAM, 3Tb Fusion Drive, M395X

If Safari 11.1 is installed:

AutoFill behavior has changed.

1. A user has to click inside the autofill fields, the arrow (interaction) for the autofill to work everytime.

Most of the time a popup will appear, click the username. Username will be entered.

Click the arrow button again. Again choose the username from the pop-up.

Password will be entered.

Some websites may require to enter username/password manually.

2. If the site is not a secure one, “Not Secure” or “Site Not Secure” will appear in the search field.

About AutoFill

This is a new security feature.

Safari Login AutoFill

Available for: OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, macOS Sierra 10.12.6, and macOS High Sierra 10.13.4

Impact: A malicious website may be able to exfiltrate autofilled data in Safari without explicit user interaction.

Description: Safari autofill did not require explicit user interaction before taking place. The issue was addressed through improved autofill heuristics.

One more thing to try. Try the Safe Mode.

Safe Mode - About

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
