Sleep Mode - battery still running. Why?

Why does closing of Macbook Pro lip not make the computer into Sleep mode?

The Mac body will be warmed and battery indicator has proven lesser % power over the period.

Is it caused by wrongdoing in setting or some mechanical problem in the Mac body which is still under warranty?

Thank you.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 11.3.1

In normal sleep mode, the RAM memory remains powered. If you have selected "wake on network access" the Wi-Fi and/or Ethernet Hardware remains powered. In some cases, the drive may come on for brief periods.

Sleep is not OFF.

If you want NO power consumed, choose Shutdown off the  menu.
