ios music the internet connection appears to be offline for downloaded music

Just trying to listen to “downloaded music” in my car. I don’t want music app to use data so it’s turned off. So why is it looking for internet?? It’s just connected to my Bluetooth in the truck and I can’t listen to music bc Apple keeps forgetting I only keep my music app set to be “downloaded music”. If they’re trying to push me into their paid music, I’ll stop using the app.

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to listen to music you download from Apple Music on your iPhone, as you get a message about not having an internet connection. If you haven't already, please force close the Music app and restart your iPhone as iOS clears cached data and does other system optimizations when you turn your device off and on. Then test your issue again.

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Add and download music, shows, and movies from the Apple Music catalog - Apple Support

If you're still having this issue, your next step is to reinstall iOS on your device; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article:
