Ever since I updated iOS to 11.3.1, when I try to screen record while music is playing in the background, there’s no sound. The song is playing, but I hear no sound coming out. Even when I have earbuds plugged in or I go back and watch the video, there’s absolutely no sound. Help?

Try turning on microphone. The sound quality for the song isn’t great, but it’ll at least get your video to have some background music.
yea, i still can’t too.. try use spotify music.. it’ll sound..
It’s not about recording music and copyright infringement. He’s talking about any sound on the screen is not being recorded regardless of what’s playing on the screen.
When you press the “microphone on” button, it only records ambient noise around the phone and not what the sound is playing on the screen while recording.
Instead of using the default music player use Saavn music app to record the music in background.

It didn’t work for me but what I did find out if your using a different app to listen to music like a downloaded app to store music you can listen from there. iTunes is trying to pressure copyright issues
Hey yeah this happens to me to but with my android it records the music perfectly. So I’m not completely sure but if you can try downloading a screen recorder app because apple has a strict rule with copyright
No I’m not talking about recording my voice. I’m talking about recording the song in the phone. It doesn’t let me record the song on my phone in the iCloud music app. I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work.
Im not a 100% sure but I'm guessing it all has to do with copyright infringement laws.
Same thing with youtube... copyright laws.
Just curious.., if you already have the music downloaded, and the youtube videos are on youtube, i.e. available on demand, then what is the point of recording them? They are already recorded and available at your command?
Why do you have so many unneeded questions, if you can’t help someone shut the F up! Who cares they are trying to record a song are you the iTunes police now. Can’t stand people like you always worrying about the wrong thing. You get on a board that you can’t help with the matter only to try and judge. Go somewhere and kick rocks!!!
This issue has nothing to do with music rights or him trying to “steal” music.. I have the same issue and it happens when recording anything.. I tried to even screen record one of my own personal videos and even tho the sound plays, when you play back the screen record there is no sound.. I would say Apple just took the feature but some people can still do it so I don’t get what the issue is.. I’ve spent tons of time looking for an answer because I’ve been having this issue for a long time and I can not find one answer as to what the problem is. What I have read is that Apple refuses to acknowledge this issue and just brushes it off as if it doesn’t exist.. there are millions of people with this issue yet there is not one reply with a valid reason or solution.
Is there any way to reverse the update? It’s stupid that they don’t let you record the song anymore 🙄
I already have the song downloaded in iCloud music on my phone. I’m saying it doesn’t let me record it anymore with the screen recorder like it used to before the stupid update.
Update: now my phone won’t let me record YouTube videos either. When I say record YouTube videos, I mean go to YouTube, click on a video and use screen record to record it. Help
I have the same problem, I noticed it stopped recording the audio being played, right after the update. Please if you find a solution let me know
