Change Messages app font

Will someone please tell me how to change the font (NOT the font size) used by the Messages app on macOS 10.13.4 High Sierra? Thanks!

Go to the Messages Preferences/General pane and select Other from the Text Size menu.

That will take you to the Font window where you can select the Font, style and size:

Note that this only applies to the message portion of the Messages window and not the left hand column.

Hi,

Open System Preferences > Accessibility

Choose the Display options.

Put a tick in the Reduce Transparency box in the right hand column of the right hand pane.

This changes the "See-Through" of the DOCK to being opaque.

Now go to Messages > Preferences > General.

Choose the Text Size option drop down.

The Other option should bring up the Change Font pallet.

If it does not choose the last Font option and try again.

Once you have the pallet (make sure it is not hidden behind anything else) you can choose what font is used to display all incoming and outgoing Messages.

Unlike iChat this Font is not sent in the iMessages so it will not effect what others see.

In relation to the incoming messages it is more like iChat's incoming Font override so that you can read the message.
