My iPhone 6 has been operating on its own!

Does all the "typing" seem random? If so the most likely reason is a failing digitizer. That's part of the screen assembly and replacing that might fix it. Other than that there's the possibility of "touch disease" where the touch controller IC connection to the logic board is flaky. That problem was most common on the 6 Plus, but some iPhone 6 users were getting that.

Sounds like the touch screen is failing.

If restoring as new didn't help, it's like a hardware issue. Make an appointment at your local Apple store to bring it in for evaluation.

Go to iCloud make sure iCloud back up is on Then backup now over your wifi.

Then go to settings down to reset Restore iPhone back to factory settings.

Set back up over your wifi when it asks if you want to use iCloud backup Say yes to get your apps and data back this will get rid of any bugs.
