Use iMac 21.5 late 2009 in Target Display Mode

I have seen in many places that people have used the 21.5” late 2009 iMac as a second monitor. I was wondering if it is possible and if so how to do it. I have that iMac and a late 2012 21.5” iMac that I want to use. Using the 2009 as the second monitor.

That iMac model can't go into Target Display mode. If desired, set up Virtual Network Computing.

Use the Sharing pane of System Preferences to enable Screen Sharing, and download a VNC client on the other Mac.
