iTunes artwork issues with wide CD single art

Hi there!

I really need your help. I love my iTunes library and I want record covers for all my albums, so that it looks great in "album view". It works perfectly with artwork taken directly from iTunes or scans that are square. However, some CD singles used to have these wider covers, and these look really strange in album view. They're just blank. I'll include a screen shot down below.

My fear is that iTunes won't let me use that older style of covers anymore, so that I'm forced to crop the images into squares. Which is a bit sad considering the amount of data disappearing from the artwork. Is there any other way to get the album artworks to show up? I'd be thankful for your help.
