Sony A7 III .ARW Support
Any idea when Apple will add support for .ARW raw files from the Sony A7 III?
MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

I just discovered the same problem when I tried importing the RAW files into Apple's Photos software (didn't work). Until Apple support is available for RAW files from the Sony A7 III, you can view and edit the files using Sony's free Image Edge software (Remote/View/Edit). Info and links to download for free can be found at: https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/app/imagingedge/en/

Send feedback to Apple requesting RAW support for the Sony A7M3. The more feedback they get, might move them to add RAW support, because it is not supported yet. I sent feedback about a week ago.
Hi, thanks for the tip. I too have the Sony A7iii. In addition to not being able to import RAW (.arw) files, my MacBook will also not import either XAVC 4K or XAVC SHD files. It imports only .jpeg picture files and AVCHD video files. Am I missing something here?
The A7 III is surely a hit, jakeworld. I didn’t try importing those video files I told you about earlier into Photos, I just tried playing them from Finder using QuickTime Player. Can you play your videos from Finder?
Thanks a million, Dunedin_NZ! Works like a charm! ✅🙂
I'm glad it worked for you, too! I just discovered this today myself. All the best.

Excellent suggestion, fuzzymo. Thanks for the link. I have just made the same request.
Thank you, Dunedin_NZ! All the best!
Great suggestion indeed, fuzzymo! I too just sent Apple feedback! Take care!
I just tried playing a XAVC 4K 30p video and a XAVC S HD 60p video on my Mac, jakeworld. Both video files opened up successfully and played in QuickTime Player...
I did send Apple this feedback about four days ago. Hopefully an update/fix is coming soon, with so many people apparently purchasing the Sony A7iii.
Do these files need to be set at specific frame rates to be imported? In my case, my MacBook Pro (early 2015) does not even "see" them in the import window. Thanks for your reply.
I will try this. Thanks again.
