How to transfer music from iPod to Mac?

I am trying to transfer music from my iPod to a new Mac. It has been said that I need to transfer my itunes from my old computer to my new computer, blah blah...I cant do that because my iTunes music was saved to an external harddrive since my old computer didn’t have much GB storage to begin with and I had tons of music that took up too much space. The issue is that my external HD crashed and the data cant be recovered, but I have all the music still on my 120GB iPod and want to get it transferred to my new computer so that I don’t loose all my music. How can I do that?
