Using an AppleTV 4K with the NBC app without an NBC Profile

In setting up the NBC App on our AppleTX 4K tonight, we noted that we could either sign up for a NBC Profile OR link our TV Provider. We chose the latter, since we're getting overwhelmed quickly by the insane number of user accounts we need to live our daily life.

We get a screen that tells us to navigate to nbc dot com slash activate and enter the code as presented. On my MacBook Air, we do that and then are prompted to select our TV provider and log in. We then get a screen saying (paraphrasing) "You're all good to go!" yet the AppleTV screen doesn't change, and when we back out of the app to the main screen and try to watch something we get directed back to the activation screen. This infinite loop never seems to cease, and our TV provider is unable to help us as this is an issue with our AppleTV, not their service (their words).

Any words of wisdom from the community? Has anyone gotten the NBC app to work on their AppleTV without needing to set up an NBC profile?
