Why does my new IPhone X battery drain so fast?

So I bought a used iPhone X and noticed the battery was depleting very fast. I just figured it was because of how ever the guy who had it before me had used it. Well I took it to an Apple store (after making an appointment) and had told them about it all and how long I could use the phone for (I told him from 6, when I take it off the charger, to around noon, when it dies), he said it wasn’t good. So, he gave me a brand new phone for free. The same GB and carrier that I had with that phone and had restored my data from my iCloud to that phone. Well about a day in with the new phone and I’m already noticing the same thing. I even tried turning off notifications, automatic updates, background app refresh, so on and am still seeing the same results. Unless I’m delusional or parnoid but I took it off the charger this morning at 6am and it is now 11:16 (with the same heavy use I do) and it’s at 61%. So maybe it is doing better, maybe I’m not seeing it. What do you think, or think I can do to fix this?

It gets a little warm, wouldn’t say hot. Also, I’m using a charger I got from this store (lol forgot the name), it said specifically for Apple products. The charger box, I’m not to for sure as to where I got it.

The cable is far more of an issue than the adapter.

I would suggest that you restore the phone as new and test for a couple of days. Don't add anything on it except your contacts and see how the phone performs. If the battery seems ok, then you'll know that something you're putting on the phone is causing a problem. The next step will be to figure out just what.

Hello TheHungo,

There are a lot of demanding apps on the Appstore and one of the most demanding types are AR apps. AR apps/games can take up a lot of battery away from your device very quickly. Also the standard iPhone charger included in the box is not capable of fast charging. I would suggest buying a 29W USB-C Power Adapter, which can charge your phone to 50 percent in 30 minutes.

Cheers!
