I have Do Not Disturb setup to block phone calls all of the time except from contacts. However, it is also blocking messages in iMessage from everyone, including contacts. I don't want phone calls and rarely use the phone. I want notifications from iMessage from contacts, especially my wife.
Has anyone figured out a way to block calls but allow message notifications on an iPhone? Using the latest O/S.

Do Not Disturb blocks all notifications. You can set it to allow calls from Favorites or Contacts. However, to be able to receive notification of Messages from certain people, you have to set those individually for Emergency Bypass.
Go to that person's contact card, then select Edit>Ringtone, then on the following page at the top, you will see Emergency Bypass switch. Turn that on.

Yes, it was something new that started, I'm guessing after complaints that you could get a phone call through but not a message. They had to figure out somewhere to put it! Glad you are satisfied. Take care.
Whoops, my mistake. You need to go to Text Tone for the Emergency Bypass for Text. The Ringtone one is for phone calls. I seem to have been in too big of a hurry to let you know and made that error. Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, it would. I couldn't find anything in the Do Not Disturb support document, nor was there anything in the iPhone User Guide. Funny, since they provided a link and information about Do Not Disturb while Driving.
My wife came home and we started trying to get this to work. No success until I rebooted the iPhone and shut down my Mac and iPad.
This feature needs work better. It is way too complicated and not UX friendly. Messaging it too important for this setup.
