iPads aren't laptops or full computers.

No standard computer peripherals, like USB hard drives/optical drives/conventional USB flash drives/mice/trackpads DO NOT work with iDevices/iPads.

There are ways to do what you are aiming for using other methods, but because of the Terms of Use of these Apple Support Communities, we cannot discuss these other methods and procedures to stream DVD movies to your iPad.

An Internet search will find you answers you need to accomplish your goal.

That is as much advice as we are allowed to give you in these official Apple product communities.

For starters, you will need to use special mobile drives to start with as a first step to accomplishing your DVD streaming goal.

There are a few special storage devices for mobile devices. There are portable, bulit-in WiFi hotspot hard drives for mobile devices made by Western Digital and Seagate.

There are special mobile lightning connected and built in WiFi Hot spot, USB flash drives made by SanDisk (now owned by Western Digital)

This listing maybe incomplete and somewhat outdated, now. So do an online search for similar external data storage devices for iPads

Kingston Electronics makes some data storage devices for iPads/iDevices, now, too!

Good Luck to You!
