What computer do you have?

1. You need either Window 7 or later OS or Mac OS X 10.10.5 (Yosemite) or later

2. Your computer iTunes version should be 12.7.4 or later

3. Connect iPad to your computer iTunes, then do a Sync.

4. Make sure Wi-Fi is ON to connect to the Internet.

5. Wait while iTunes detects and activates your iPad:

  • If iTunes shows, "Set up as New" or "Restore from Backup," it means that iTunes activated your iPhone.
  • If an error in iTunes says that the SIM card isn't compatible, contact your carrier.

Let me also state that the battery of the Ipad was changed. It is a brand new device but has been in storage for up to 2 years. So when it was opened last week, the battery could not charge after being plugged for over 12 hours and so the device could not come on. The technician said the battery was bad and had the battery changed. Since then the battery has been ok and the device on but cannot be activated.

Could there be something else wrong?

Yes, was the battery changed by Apple? If so bring it back to Apple.

If not then you should bring it back to the 3rd party repairer. Apple will not touch it again.
