Photos app badge

I have a red badge on my photos app on my Mac dock and don't know how to get rid of it or what it means.

MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

a red 1 on Apple Photo icon There is a red 1 on the Apple Photos icon in my dock. I can't seem to figure out what it refers to. I have read other support posts about this but none of them fully answer my question. I understand that it must relate to something new which I have not seen. Perhaps it is a notice of some sort, or an indicator that I have a new photo, shared by a friend? But I can't seem to determine what it refers to. Can anyone tell me how to find out what, exactly, the 1 is referring to?

Photos App Delete a number that appears in red circle on the Photo App in dock.

Photo App Badge - I want to see where it comes from I've seen questions like this but the answers are about how to get rid of the badge (the little red circle with a number in it stuck to the Photos icon). I am fine with these things, I just want to find the comment or photo it relates to. I am part of a whole bunch of shared albums with people, and clearly someone added something, a photo or a comment, and I can't find out where. Can someone tell me?
