None of my home videos are in iTunes

I have an iPhone X and previously an iPhone 6. None of my home videos from my 6 are in iTunes where they were saved so have lost my precious films of my grandchildren.

Now don't want to sync my X in case more are lost.

How do I get them back?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2011), iOS 9.3
