iTunes not showing songs present on ipod touch 6th gen

I have a 6th gen ipod touch on iOS 11.3.1 which began every re-start with the first song in my library. I had gone through all the procedures and finally decided to do a full restore. All music backed up prior to this. I am also subscribed to Apple Music and approx. half my 3,000 songs are downloaded. My iTunes library shows all my songs. I have restored all my songs from backup to my ipod and the total number tallies with iTunes library. If I connect the ipod to pc and open iTunes my device shows NO songs at all under 'Music'. Why is this?

Also, a large number of the songs on my ipod have the cloud/download symbol next to them. Do I have to select each separately to download or is there a way to do this in one go?
