Macbook Air WiFi turns its self off

I have a MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2014) running High Siera (10.13.4 (17E202)). Yesterday an issue arose where the WiFi will turn off. It happens every time the Mac goes to sleep either by timeout or by closing it.

When it wakes WiFi is disabled with the empty WiFi logo. I can re-enable it and it reconnects but it's super annoying!

  • I haven't made any system changes or any updates
  • I have tried disabling bluetooth

I happens every time the computer sleeps but also at other times (seemingly random) while it is in use.

Hi there, Jays2001!
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with your Wi-Fi turning off and I am happy to help out! First, take a look at this article with steps to follow to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Once you are in safe mode, check to see fi the issue is still happening. Also, check out this article with steps for How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac to create a new user and test the issue in the new account to see if the issue is user specific or system wide.
Let me know the results and take care!
