macbook air not charging properly

My macbook air's battery status reads "battery is not charging" and the light on the charger is off, however it is working. i have tried resetting the SMC, cleaning out the charger and the charger port, switching outlets, doing a hard reset, has not fixed the problem

Let us know when you find or design a battery that doesnt degrade with time and use. If you do design such a battery, be certain you obtain all relevant patents, as you could be rich beyond your wildest dreams.

You're not communicating with Apple here. Volunteers not Apple employees reply to discussions here at Apple Support Communities.

"planned obsolescence" ... no. Batteries aren't meant to last forever which is why Apple provides support pages for you go refer to regarding battery cycles so you can replace a battery before it dies.
