Apple ID "item already bought" fix

My friend and me tried to make an in-app purchase. It iold us that this item was already bought and asked us do we want to get it for free. We clicked "continue" and nothing happened. We tried to restore it with the in game "restore purchases" and nothing happened. We have never played for it, so idk why a message like that will show up. The purchase isn't an in-game currency, it more like a DLC. Any help?
