File system verify or repair failed

Mac is could not be installed on your computer.

File system verify or repair failed.

Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.

I am trying to install high Sierra on a 2014 MacBook pro. El Capitan. I backed it up to a 1terabyte external hard drive with time machine. The installer is running on a loop.

I need specific and clear instructions.

Not a happy camper right now.

This would indicate a corrupt hard drive. Boot into Recovery Mode and run Disk Utility > First Aid. If it reports errors run it until no errors reported or until it reports the drive could not be fixed. Then try the install again.
