On the Apple Watch series 3 gps only. Do you need both Bluetooth and wifi to receive text or just on or the other

Either Bluetooth or WiFi should be enough, but at least one of them must be available to link your phone and watch. Be aware your phone will need to be powered up and connected to the cellular service so the SMS can be received and forwarded to your Apple Watch.
