MacBook Pro Shutting Down when Closed

For about a month now, my MacBook Pro shuts down instead of sleeping when I close the lid for some time. I am running High Sierra v 10.13.4

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2016, 4 TBT3), iOS 10.3.3, IOS 10.13.4

1. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18761

2. Reset SMC.

Choose the method for “If the battery is non-removable”.

3. Try starting up in Safe Mode. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Once in Safe Mode, click the “Restart” button at the bottom.
