Temporary inability to login via Safari?

Seems to happen periodically. Safari (V11.1) with High Sierra 10.13.4 seems to automatically forget my login and I can't log in again. Clicking on "Sign in" (https://discussions.apple.com/login.jspa) just redirects to the welcome page (https://discussions.apple.com/welcome).

If I switch to Firefox (currently 60.0.1) I have no problem.

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), 13" mid-2012 Core i5 2.5 (SSD)

I've found this too, particularly with an outdated search link I've yet to remove. Some links can take you into a sort of limbo where you're not signed in but not signed out either. Restarting the browser, or clearing recent browsing history including cookies, seems to be required.

In normal browsing mode - If you have saved many links in history , what ever link you select and click on it , it will always open that site only and not the other , so always clear all history and web site data .

Some prefer private browsing mode so they are not worried about saving website data , in this scenario they always type the link in the url bar and that link opens .
