When i click a link in my gmail account I get linked to "search.anysearchmanager.com." Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Thanks for your answer. I don't recall ever looking at that site. I recently installed an update to the High Sierra OS and I also installed an update to Adobe Flash Player.
Do you have any usggestions how I can get rid of this malware?

I received a notification from Adobe about the Flash Player upgrade . But actually I did that update AFTER the virus had already infected my computer.
I just scanned my computer with the Avast Security software and found 30 viruses. But I'm not sure how to get rid of them. Any suggestions?
1) get rid of Avast, it is incredibly invasive junk ware. It hogs your computers resources, makes it prone to crashing, and break into your secure communications (and botches the break-in) living your computer LESS secure.
It scans all you files, looking for patterns that match antique Windows Viruses that are no threat to you, even if these patterns appear in pictures and files where they could not possible become active.
It provides NO protection from you current (presumed) infection, which was probably caused by "Trojan Horse" attack that fooled you into authorizing an installation.
2) Use MalwareBytes, which is Mac-specific instead of generic, and use it to scan and remove ONCE.
OK, thanks Grant. I just got rid of Avast and will download MalwareBytes. But I did a little research and it said MalwareBytes should be used in conjunctoin with other security software to ensure full protection. Is that true, and if so do you have any recommendations? Thanks again,

Thanks grant. I did a scan and got rid of viruses and it seems to have worked. I can now click on trusted links in email and it goes to the correct site. But now I noticed I am not able to attach files to my emails. ☹
I did a restart after scanning with malwarebytes and now all is well! The links in the emails I receive work properly, and I am able to attach files to emails I send. So thanks to Grant and others for their help. The only residual issue is that my computer seems to be a little slow, but at least it works.

You should do a Restart after you remove stuff, so that you get a fresh copy of macOS without all that "stuff".
NEVER click on links in emails. ALWAY surf to the site directly.
the site you mention is associated with a very pernicious malware.
Did you install anything since you have looked at that site?

How did you know to install that?
i am using the free download version of malwarebytes. is that sufficient or do you recommend the paid version? what's the difference?
The free version, run once or twice, will find the things installed on your Mac at this moment.
That should be all you need, provided you can stay skeptical.
If you have restarted, what happens when you try to add an attachment? Can you drag a file into the new email?
