Is there a way to make your brightness lower than the lowest?

I’m currnetly in a Backpacker’s hostel dorm and feel the brightness on my iPhone is too bright, I can see the screen well but the other people can see my face very well which is unsettling.

Maximum Screen Brightness is Lowered When I’m out in the sun, my phone’s max screen brightness is reduced suddenly. It’s like some sort of cap is placed on my brightness where it doesn’t go above that point. I’ve tried changing multiple display settings, but nothing works. It's bad because I can't read the screen so have to keep manually turning it up to 100% again. Auto-Brightness under Display & Text size is turned off. Any idea how I can stop this happening please?

Well, by definition, lowest is the lowest it can go.
