That message means one of two things:
- You are using a Lightning accessory that is not certified as Made for iPhone
- You have dirt in the lightning connector on your phone that is preventing the plug from seating properly.
It can also mean the Lightning connector on the phone is damaged, but there's nothing you can do about that without getting the phone replaced by Apple.
