Airpods with audio interface

Does anyone know if Airpods will work to monitor audio via an audio interface? For example, I use an external sound card to record audio, which has its own a-d/d-a converters. It would be super rad if Apple's Airpods could connect through bluetooth and tap into the audio coming from my interface.

For any of you who who might be able to shed some light, I have an RME Fireface 800 which uses TotalMix software. I'm also worried about latency.

Any of you have thoughts on this?

The AirPods can in theory work as your output device (via their own drivers) but the reality is that latency is too abysmal to use when producing music.
