Apple Watch tracking activity while flying

I have a series 3 watch (although I had the same problem with my series 1). I am an airline pilot. When I am flying, the watch is tracking activity. I'm closing the rings while literally sitting on my butt doing nothing but flying. I'm not sure why the watch in "airplane mode" can't assume that I'm in an airplane and stop activity monitoring. There may be a few sultans that have treadmills in their private jets, but I'm pretty sure most people are not active while flying.

If I disable the activity monitoring, then I have to go back into the iPhone and turn it back on before I start exercising again. It is kind of a hassle. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
