I began using Goggle photo and no none of my photos are available on any of my devices

I recently decided to use Google Photo because of the free storage. I cleaned up storage by eliminating duplicates, but not none of my Albums contain any photos. And they don't appear in Google Photo either. Is there any way to find mh photos? 2017 MacBook Pro.
