Small score board

Hi All,

I'm a new user to Final Cut Pro X and in need of help. I started recording beach volleyball tournaments on the weekends and I started to cut up the footage. The problem I am having is that I don't know how to put a small score board on the bottom left hand side of the screen. Just like the AVP matches on youtube. It gives the location of the tournament, players names and score. Example below.

I tried to google it and youtube but nothing useful is coming up. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi Junyao,

… meanwhile … as a little finger exercise I built an AVP-clone, … <cough> sort-of…

… have no clue of beach volleyball… google tells me, these players are the most famous ones in German... aha. (?)

The plug-in, if you want it (no worries, share my stuff for free) offers in the Inspector:

  • a button to make the yellow arrow hop to the servicing team…
  • scores
  • an optional move-in of the Match' name (that yellow bar)
  • and both teams names …

size&position probably need adjustments … to your needs.

If you like it, post here, add your enhancement requests and I'll post you some dropbox-link for dl

enjoy movie making 😀

in addendum to Luís excellent reply:

a no-budget solution is, use a 'paint' app of your choice (I prefer Pixelmator…have seen people using Keynote or abusing Excel! 😝) to create an empty template, and add content by using FC's own Basic Title(s) …

or…

for frequent, more professional use, create your own in Motion - your example doesn't demand a Nasa engineer 😉

'best' commercial Templates, imho, are at motionVFX - Original Home of Apple Motion Templates and Final Cut Pro X Plugins

but pricey…

finally:

find a helpful soui, who will tinker you a plugin… … late here, maybe tomorrow…

Moin Junyao,

… sorry - two Silverbacks in FC/Motion started to chat, forgetting to explain the basics:

you have downloaded the zip, and double-clicked it to un-zip, right?

Now you got a folder…

Next steps are a bit … annoying but … no that difficult:

Here, Motion-Master Simon Ubsdell explains step-by-step, how to create correctly a Templates-folder on your Mac. When that is done, it is from now on just drag-and-drop … promised.

Glad you like Luís and my lil' graphic… 🙂

Ok, below is a link to my next iterarion on your template 😉

I added the following changes:

It is now possible to show zero, one, two or three sets.

This is, of course, governed by a second pop-up in the rig, with values 0,1,2,3.

The yellow triangle representing serving team can also be hidden (such as between the end of a set and the start of the next one). This is achieved by adding another snapshot to the Service pop-up (values are None,1,2).

Okay, so I just realized I have motion, do I use motion project, fc effect, fc title, fc generator or fc transition? And once I do, how do I merge them together?

Nonono , no need for Motion (only when you like to modify the generator)

This is a plug-in teaching your Final Cut new tricks…

No, just follow exactly the advice given by Simon:

create a new folder structure in your 'Movies' folder (follow precisely advice about naming scheme and that'.localized' item!!)

Then simply drag the unzipped folder into corresponding Generator folder.

For future use, to install other plugins, installing is a simple drag'n drop-finder operation…

Karsten, that is pretty cool!

Thanks for the flowers, you know, I like 'challenges' ("can that be done in Motion??")

Meant to help Junyao, but also to demo, how easy and fast the combo of FC+M5 is… that is really done in less than 20min - und now any FinalCut 'seat' can install it and use it - you save tons of time, it gives your reports a pro look and it is fail-safe to use… (…mostly). Finally, any changes can be done in minutes…

… and it's fun to make 😉

Excellent enhancements, Luís … combined forces, so-to-speak 😁

Maybe tomorrow I'll add some 'bling' to … asks for some animations! LOL

Hi Karsten,

Thank you for your input, it looks great! I'm still getting used to using final cut pro x, literally, started two days ago. I downloaded the zip file but how do I add this? Not sure what to do with this. Sorry you are dealing with a newbie. There are no specific tutorials for this online. I'm trying to find published parameters but no luck. Any suggestions on how I can do this easy as possible?
