Question: Internally broken camera?

It appears that my iPhone X has a problem in portrait mode. It has been in a catalyst case from the second I took it from the box. There are no scratches on the case or the glass over the sensors but my pictures appear to have a crack in them! See attached pic. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I can't tell from that picture what supposed to be there and what is a flaw. It might be more useful if you took a picture of something recognizable. If you can post a picture taken with the rear facing camera and with the front facing camera of the same thing from the same angle, that might help make your point more clear.

The case doesn't have to be over the camera to cause a problem. There have been instances where cases caused reflections that resulted in artifacts.

If it were me, I'd back up the phone then restore it as new to see if that made a difference. If it didn't, I'd make an appointment at the Genius Bar at the local Apple Store and have them evaluate it.
