AirPods - Double-tap on AIRPOD

Hello,

everytime when my iPhone connect with AirPods he doesn't remember setting about "Double-tap on AIRPOD". When I change to OFF and disconnect AirPods and connect one more time, the settings back. Is it a normal sytuation? How can I change this permanently.
