iTunes is altering my music tracks and playback is weird, help???

So here's the issue. I go into my iTunes (12.7.5.9) and select a song to play. As soon as I select an individual song to play, like 2 seconds or a second of the song that comes before it in the album plays before said song that I selected plays.

Like, let's say I select "Stand Up" from James Bay's latest album Electric Light. 1 or 2 seconds of "Sugar Drunk High" (the song previous to it in the album) play AND THEN it cuts to "Stand Up", and "Stand Up" plays like normal. If I want to put the song on repeat? The same thing happens every time it repeats. And this isn't for just a few songs in my library, it's for every single song.

It happens when I play individual tracks or when I just listen to the album straight through, and it, from what I've noticed, only happens to songs that I have imported to iTunes via CD. And those tracks are sort of 'damaged' (i.e. the issue happens outside of iTunes too), I put them from the iTunes media folder into VLC and the same playback issue happens, I play them from the Finder and the same playback issue happens. It's not the CD though, I can put the physical, brand new CD into our speaker system/CD player and it plays just fine. I'm positive that it's iTunes' issue--it has messed up my tracks before, when I had the older version that had the playback skipping issue.

I should also let y'all know that when importing my CDs I do not use my MacBook's internal drive because it doesn't work (it thinks for a second then spits the CD back out) and instead I use an external Samsung drive. If anyone would like to know which one that is let me know, but I really don't think using an external drive to play the tracks or to import them should make a difference--especially since when I just put the CD in and just play it without importing it there is no playback issue whatsoever. So the problem is either with iTunes sometime after it imports or in the importing process is my guess. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

What gives? What can I do to solve this problem? If it helps, I have iTunes 12.7.5.9 (as I previously mentioned) and am running OSx Sierra, 10.12.6, on a silver, 15-inch, Late 2011 MacBook Pro.

If anyone wants me to upload a sample track of audio pulled from iTunes to see what the behavior is I can do so! Let me know.

P.S. I just imported one of the affected tracks into Audacity and those little bits from the previous song are actually part of the waveform, it's not the software messing up, the track's audio literally got altered. So I'm not sure what happened or how it happened.

It sounds like they did not get ripped correctly in the first place. Try again with a different setup.
