WD Passport does not work with High Sierra
Hello,
I have an issue with my drive. I haven't done a backup on it for a while and today plugged it in to do backup and it does not show up in finder. I its been 130 days since my last backup. My drive was formatted to OSX and I had done prior backups on high sierra (before January 2018). I had connected it prior to the latest CPU security update (i believe sierra 10.13.2?) for manual transfer of files just fine. Now Disk utility shows the drive but the partition that has (hopefully not had) 500 or so GB of files and backups is grayed out and it says 1TB used 0 free. It does not ask me for my passcode to unlock the drive when I connect it any more either. The drive does work and spins up so its not broken. Its less than one year old.
Was there some USB or firmware update from apple for 10.13.3 or 10.13.4 that would break this connection?
I am not using or have never used the WD software for this. Its been a backup drive or drive for manual transfer of files to it since opened from the box new.
Drive has never been dropped and stored in my safe when not in use.
past reference from another user with this same issue:
High Sierra not compatible with WD hard drive
It seems that on WD end they have lots of issues with this from people upgrading to High Sierra:

Please help me get my 500GB worth of files back. I need a drive to do a backup onto soon.
