Um. No. The agreement says you will not discuss it in public AT ALL. Including in these forums.
What you can find out there on the interwebtubes is completely irrelevant.
Important UPDATE on iOS 11.4.1 - I can report I charged my phone last night and unplugged it at 6:59 AM with 100% battery charge. It is now 10:17 PM (15 hours and 18 minutes) and my iPhone 6s is reporting 39% battery charge. That is good and a major improvement from iOS 11.4 and is similar to iOS 11.3.1 - I can sure live with that!
I have the same problem with an iPhone 7 on iOS 11.4. But, yesterday I updated to iOS 11.4.1 and something change a little. On rest mode it doesn´t appear to drain a lot like 11.4 version. On a normal day I think its draining a little less too (not exactly confirmed on 1 day). The problem is that when I entered Low Power Mode, and I was updating some apps...battery drains from 20% to 5% in a few minutos (maybe 10 minutes or a little more). Hope this was only my imagination or something on the first day of updated (sorry my poor english).
I've had this same issue as well. I am currently operating on ios 11.4 and after updating I noticed a massive battery drain on my phone every couple of minutes 2-3% drains. Take note I have turned off location services, notifications for other apps, background app refresh and reduce motion is also on. And the only apps I use is facebook, messenger, whatsapp, email and music only. Even on standy mode the battery drains pretty fast.
Till I updated to ios 11.4.1 it seems to have solved the battery drain issues, I have been using my phone going 3hrs now and just 1% battery decrease compared to the 10% decrease every minute of the previous version.
Currently using ios 11.4.1 with iPhone 7+ hope this helps guys.
With 11.4.1 my Battery Drain problem still exists.
I did a DFU Restore without a Backup and my battery life is cut into half in comparison to 11.3.
I have everything off! And i dont use 5 GHz WiFi. In Standby there is no drain. Just when i use my iPhone 6s i can see the % dropping. That never happend with 11.3.
I also have this problem on my SE and I too believe it has to do with the wifi.
At first I tried reseting everything and backing up from iCloud and it seemed to have worked, at least until the following day.
Next I tried reseting the wifi settings and turning wifi off, background app refresh off, location services off, and lower power mode on, and charging my phone to 100%. Then, after minimal use (checked snapchat, whatsapp, and email a few times) over an approximately 24hr period I was left with 91% battery. I tried this again except with location services turned on (though with apple analytics stuff turned off), but still on lower power mode, and again left with 91% after ~24 hrs.
For the next 24 hr period I tried turning only wifi back on (still on lower power mode) and connecting to my home network (at 2.4ghz but 5ghz also available). After about a 10 hr period I had 97% battery. Later I left home to go somewhere, taking with my phone with me, and returned about an hour later. When I returned I noticed my phone was warm and the battery began to drain quickly again. After about 2 hours I was at 83%.
Something similar had happened when I had first reset the phone completely. It was good until leaving home and comming back for the first time after reseting it, because when I came back it started to drain again. I had noticed my phone getting warm a couple of times before when not in use, after getting the update, but this did not happen when wifi was turned off.
I'm going to try 11.4.1 now. If it ever gets fixed I'm never updating my phone again after that.
I have the same issue with my iPhone 6 Plus. I have observed battery drain in iOS 11.4 and I am observing the same situation with iOS 11.4.1. I changed the old battery with new one in October, 2017 (less then 1 year ago). I can see less 100 times of full charging from the time of battery changing (software shows almost 100% capacity of new battery). However every day I see my iPhone is losing battery persentage during few hours. It is unacceptable! I am doubting it is worth to buy an expensive phone from Apple the next time..
Hi. My iPhone 7 Plus normally last for 1.5 days before updating to iOS 11.4. Since the first day I use iPhone 7 Plus, I have off a lot of functions such as Dynamic Backgrounds, Automatically Upload Photos to iCloud, seldom on Wi-Fi, Personal Hotspot, Bluetooth, and never activated Handoff function, etc, etc.
Excessive battery drain since installing iOS 11.4, the device's battery lasts less than a day. The battery health is 93%. Rebooting my affected iPhone does not resolve the issue. Battery drain problems, particularly in standby – use around 6% to 7% even my iPhone left untouched.
The battery drain problems have not been addressed in iOS 11.4.1. My device’s battery can last for around 1 day if off the 4G function. One way to resolve the battery drain problem – on the Airplane Mode function. However, Airplane Mode turn my iPhone 7 Plus into an idiot phone (still an iPhone, anyway).
Sincerely, I don’t care about USB Restricted Mode which include in iOS 11.4.1. Can Apple do something to address the battery problem instead of those update which I feel totally meaningless.
Most frustrating - Apple never acknowledges the battery drain problem which troubles me every single day after installing iOS 11.4.
I'm curious if you checked the "Battery" section in settings to see if any app (or system services) stood out with excessive battery usage (I know this has been asked, but I have not read all 39 pages to see who answered).
The only reason I ask is that my wife had a similar issue and it turned out to be The Weather Channel app in the background, apparently constantly downloading either ads or weather data. She also had a spike in cell data usage. She no longer uses The Weather Channel app.
Perhaps there is an app (or system service!) that is trying to use the Wi-Fi constantly, but if it isn't there it gives up. So it may not directly be the wifi.
My iphone 6s battery life completely changed after the ios 11.4 update. Last night it was 100% charged; this morning it was 18%.
The issue is the wi-fi. Listen up, Apple. When the phone is not on wi-fi or Bluetooth, battery life is great. Lasts forever. Leave wi-fi enabled for hours, and it kills battery life. Suggest Apple figure out why 11.4 wi-fi and bluetooth cause excessive battery drain. Annoying. And that doesn't even begin to address the fact that this is a supposedly "perfect" rebuilt phone that Apple forced on me when my fresh out of the box iphone 6s home button failed after 65 days. Thanks Apple!
Apple, please report how widespread "abnormal" battery drain issues are as a percentage of all users under
a) iOS 11.3.1
b) iOS 11.4
c) iOS 11.4.1
Apple, for sure has this data - when an iPhone is first set up, there is an option to share diagnostic data with Apple. I opted to share - I expect most do, but even if most don't, there would be a statistically significant number that Apple could use to give us those numbers.
Is it 0.2%, 12%, 26% - what are the numbers, Apple? iOS 11.4 was released May 29, 2018. Today is July 11, 2018.
I'm giving you 24 hours Apple. If we don't get an answer or a reasonable reply, let's copy and paste this ALL OVER THIS NEWSGROUP AND THE INTERNET UNTIL APPLE RESPONDS.
I had the same battery (new in november 2017) drain issues with my iPhone 6s after installing 11.4. As I wrote earlier, I did everything recommended by other users and Apple Support, but to no avail. Until I figured out that using my wifi at home (5 gHz) was the battery killer. Two days after installing 11.4.1. and switching my 5gHz-band on again I can say that everything is back to normal; everything - and especially my battery - is doing fine.
(Now please don't get me wrong; I'm just saying that 11.4.1 did solve my problem. I'm aware that other people still have issues after installing 11.4.1.)
Nope. Nothing stood out, and I had already disabled background app refresh and location services prior to this. But I just found out, with a little research, that sometimes severe battery drain can happen after an IOS update, but this can resolve itself in a few days. It’s like scratching the bottom of a shaken soda can for 30 seconds to keep it from exploding when opened, or taking zinc to “cure” a cold. Was it the remedy that worked, or the waiting? I’m wondering if the problem simply resolved itself rather than my fiddling with settings.
I was having the battery drain issue and took it to the Genius Bar. The tech looked at my battery usage and 53% of the usage was the Settings App! He said that meant it was the operating system that drained it. He did a firmware update thinking it might fix it, but it didn’t. The iOS 11.4.1 update seemed to have fixed it as of yesterday when it only dropped to 96% all day sitting on a shelf. Prior to that it would drop to red in 1/2 day sitting on a shelf with airplane mode turned on and no app running. This is a 6s only a few months old with battery health showing 97%. Problem started after installing iOS 11.4
I have the same issue too!! 😠
Prior to iOS11.4 my phone's battery life was "realistic" for an iPhone. Lately though. Massive and almost immediate! draining. 67% - 50% in sub 10 minutes on occasion. Random power-off at low battery levels. Sometimes as high as 15% it'd power off.
Apple may try and "fob" this off as a battery issue, but these issues only started after upgrading to 11.4
