I went to update the software on my Iphone and it is now stuck in the screen that says please plug into itunes, I have treid everything for a week from reloading itunes to trying update, restore, nothing works. My phone won't come out of that screen.

That screen indicates your iPhone has gone in to recovery. The only thing you can do now it to connect it to your computer and restore it.
Hopefully you have a backup made prior to this happening because all of the data is now gone from your iPhone and will need to be restore from that backup.

thanks for your response. Nothing is working. I tried everything on iTunes. I haven't backed it up so I will loose everything. What's worse is I no longer have a phone that works. Nothing I do will take it out of recovery mode. Actually, as I'm writing this after trying for a week it miraculously is doing something. iTunes is updating software and installing a device driver and I'm seeing the apple on my iPhone. It appears that iTunes is finally updating the software on my phone but I'm positive I probably lost 10k plus photos. I just want my phone to work. I can't even help others out because I've been doing the same thing for a week connecting it to iTunes and kept getting so many different error messages. Why now is it finally updating the software I have no idea. Updating to IOS 11 is what caused this issue to begin with. Thanks for your help.
