How to add camera information on photos in Photos?

I've noticed that for some videos/photos in the Photos app, camera information is not available.

I've searched for EXIF editors that will let me edit this info, however, most exif editors seems to work with FILES, like photos that are located in Finder, etc.

My problem is that my pictures are all in the Photos app, and this is where i want to add camera information.

Any advise would be appreciated! Thanks.

For the photos already in your library you could use keywords add the camera model and lens. This will let you search for the tags as well, and the keywords will be included, when you export the photos. The Apple Script interface for Photos does not allow to modify the the camera specific EXIF tags. You would have to export the photo, run exiftool or another tool, then reimport the tagged photos.

the rule is you should never make any changes to the content of the photos library so in general you should make EXIF edits prior to import - check out HoudahGeo,I think it can make safely make some EXIF edits in Photos although its focus is GP data - you may just have to export the unmodified originals, edit them and import the new photos deleting the old once after you are sure you did everything correctly (keep the old ones in album for easy access to delete)

Thanks Léonie, it appears that I have to export and reimport, as I really want to make use of the original fields allocated in Photos and not just keywords.

Thanks Larry, I've come to the same conclusion: Edit metadata before import. I'll certainly do so before importing, and make it a discipline.

For the many thousands of pictures and movies I have already imported, I still hope for a solution to be provided in thread.
