My wife has an iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi 16GB - is it possible to purchase an Apple approved version of Word for her iPad, and also a Wireless ( or Bluetooth) compatible stand alone keyboard

You can get Bluetooth keyboards for it, Apple sell them online, as do places such as Amazon.
