I have two homepods in stereo mode. How is it determined which responds to "Hey Siri"?
What you initially pair them it is always the left speaker that answers.
if you want the right speaker to be the one that answers press and hold the right speaker and tell it to turn on Siri

It seems to be the one you are closest too. The voice response if any will come from that one alone. If you've asked for anything to play then they both should in stereo.

That would be the logical assumption but I just tried it by standing inches from my right channel HomePod but got a response from my left channel HomePod.
Ah, apologies for my error then. I set mine up several days ago but I've been too busy to get properly familiar with them and I'm not at home right now.

Perhaps which ever one was set up first is the 'main' pod??

That would be the left one in my case. Easy way to check that would be to physically swap them and then swap the stereo pairing around. Does the Siri response move, or is it still on the left?

Thanks but no. My right channel was set up first. Initially, it was the Siri responder at first, but now the left has become the Siri responder with no changes by me.
Based on that information I would like to edit my post...
Perhaps which ever one was set up first second is the 'main' pod?? 😎
