After each of these troubleshooting steps, test your device:

  • Check if you have Locations properly set up.
  • Then check if you have a case that can obstruct (interfere with) signal reception (remove it).
  • Then try a forced restart of you device (follow the steps on first chapter of this guide: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support
  • Try to reset your network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings (this operation will resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before, but nothing else)

If nothing changes, have your device inspected at your most convenient Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider: Apple - Find Locations - Location Selector

I must admit that I was pretty skeptical of the suggestion that you posted. However, after trying pretty much everything else I decided to give it a shot. Sure enough, after a few taps in the palm of my hand my Waze app was able to connect to GPS. Not sure how long this workaround will last, but it seems to work for the moment. It's a bit unsettling to know that this can reoccur at any point in time. Thanks for passing on this tip! 🙂

@ Apple Support - I hope you're reading this! This is not the quality I would expect from the Apple brand, even if I am operating an iPhone 6.

I had the same issue. So frustrating it was. Somedays it would work and others nothing. I tried all the above, even re-installed the entire iOS on the phone but nothing seemed to definitely fix it. THEN, one person said "Tap the phone a few times in the palm of your hand to reset the accelerometers" and that worked immediately and continues to resolve the issue whenever it pops up. Which is often.
