Multiple ITunes Folders

I am using iTunes 12.***. Windows 10. I keep my music on a hard drive H. I have the following folders on different levels: iTunes. Click on that then I have iTunes again. Click on that I have iTunes Media, then Music. Click on that I have iTunes Music. Tried another reply on a different thread I renames iTunes Music to iTunes Media. I changed the Preferences as instructed. Nothing happened. I still have split albums and I cannot combine them. It seems that every time iTunes updates, it make a mess of my music. It was all together until this last update 12.7.5.9. When I select an album all the names are there but will not find the music to play unless I use file explorer to find the music. Even then iTunes splits up the album.

See Make a split library portable. Ideally you would end up with the library files in H:\iTunes and the media in H:\iTunes\iTunes Media. How to get there depends a bit on the size of the library, the amount of free space on the drive, and whether the library currently has broken links where tracks don't play. If you have broken links you should probably fix those. See Re: exclamation mark on most music? for a recent post on that topic.

No, the database should be in the iTunes folder and all media should be in its respective media kind folder inside the iTunes Media folder. The user tip gives guidance on how to get a working library from a starting position into this shape. Sometimes it may be necessary to let iTunes make copies in a new location and you can clean the originals after the fact. Or if things are already broken you can manually move them into the right shape and then try my advice for repairing broken links.
