seems a very speedy replacement since the model is not even two years old !

I was wondering there was an technical issue with the model...performance of the 2.0 GHz for example.

I have a macbook pro 2015 13" 2,9 Mhz and I wonder which Mac outperforms the other.

Thanks

With notebook computers, Apple has typically released a “refresh” and immediately discontinues the previous version. They’re also extremely disciplined about it. It’s often announced and in stores the same day, and Apple immediately pulls any stock of the previous version from its stores. That old stock may go to future warranty/service replacements. Apple Authorized Retailers sometimes sell the old stock at a discount. Not sure if they can return them to Apple.

There are some updates that were extremely fast. My late-2007 white (Santa Rosa) MacBook was only considered a current model by Apple for about 4 months before its replacement went on the market.

There is no reason, other than marketing to replace one model to the next. This process happens for any consumer electronics item you want to use as an example.

Not necessarily the way that Apple does it though with notebook computers. Apple does it with extreme precision where the new model may be announced and in stores the same day, and they immediately stop distribution and pull the predecessor from Apple retail stores.

I agree to the point. Apple should warn of these quick upgrades so as people do informed buying decisions.

They're usually refreshed with the availability of new processors from Intel. You can see the historic sequence In the Wikipedia article on the MBP.

The one big exception was the 13” mid-2015 Unibody Core i5 2.5. That was the last Unibody model and continued production through 7 different update cycles for the Retina MBP. It was a workhorse bestseller, and there are a lot of examples in good working condition on the used market.

I’m just saying most computer makers have overlapping models considered “current” and shipping. When Apple has the new MBP upgrade in stores, the previous version is immediately discontinued.

When I first started reading these forums, a lot of posts were rants complaining that people weren’t warned that a new model would be available in a week or a month, and that they felt cheated.
