using verification code for AppleID on macbook air when connecting to iCloud

When i enter my appleID password to continue using iCloud (on my MacBook Air in the Sys Preference iCloud dialog), I get a dialog that says I need to enter a verification code. I hit the OK button. The code comes up on my iPhone. But then I can't find a place to enter the verification code on my MacBook Air in the Sys Pref iCloud dialog. I don't understand how to complete the password verification process. Where do I enter the verification code?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5), OS X 10.9.5

Once you receive the verification code, in the sign in box, type in your Apple/iCloud ID, then go into the password field and type in your Apple ID password followed immediately by the verification code (6 digits). No spaces between anything. So in the password field: yourpassword123456

If you don't see the sign in screen, tap on the back arrow key in the Setting box to go back to the sign in screen, then sign in as directed above.
