install real VNC Viewer
I've recently bought a Mac Mini. I downloaded the RealVNC viewer to disk. Double-clicked the downloaded file to install. It comes up with the image shown in the attachment.
If I click on the "VNC Viewer" icon it brings up the viewer and I can connect.
If I click on the "Applications" icon it opens the Applications folder, but there is no VNC Viewer therein.
When I close this dialog, there is no icon for launching VNC viewer anywhere. I've gone to Finder, put "REALVNC" in the search box and it finds VNC-Viewer-6.17.1113-MacOSX-x86_64.dmg. Double-clicking that launches that same dialog as in the attachment. Clicking on 'Make Alias' apparently does nothing. Dragging the icon to the desktop creates a rather nondescript icon (no VNC logo) which, when clicked, also brings up the dialog shown in the attachment.
Dragging the desktop icon to the launch bar at the bottom made the icon disappear from the desktop, but did not show on the launch bar.
I'm kind of used to Windows and Linux where an installation either automatically or asks for installing a desktop icon and/or quick-launch icon for the program. Mac is making me do a bit of work to accomplish this unless I'm doing something wrong, which I suspect I am.
Am I?
Is this the right way to do this installation? I am supposed to drag the VNC program icon from Applications to the desktop?
Why does nothing happen when I select 'Make Alias'?
Is the dialog in the attached image the correct mechanism for launching VNC Viewer?
What is the 'Applications' icon in the dialog (attachment) supposed to do?
Any help for Mac-newbie appreciated.
