They haven't responded yet, so I've decided to reinstall the MS office, and finally, it worked.

It is nice to know that when doing as the error message says "You may need to reinstall the application." that it works. Often error messages are so ambiguous that is unclear what needs to be done.

The error you had encountered was due to Word being moved or duplicated.
The simple solution to fix this is to delete the duplicate file from the location specified in this article
NOTE: The steps in the article is shown for Office 2011. You may use the same steps for Office 2016 as well.
