iPhone maps will not map routes ? Doesn’t recognize location options either.. anyone having this problem? GPS is fine as far as tracking our location

Have you gone to settings>general>reset>reset location and privacy? Do you have location services turned on?
The day that post was made, there was an outage that affected Apple Maps. It has been resolved.
It was very weird. I experienced it and only found out about the outage later. Fortunately, I keep a couple of other mapping applications around. 🙂
Fortunately for me, I remember how to get places and am very good with direction. I am/was really good at land navigation (using topographical maps and a compass and I can triangulate my position using landmarks).

I find that using navigation apps can be helpful, even if I know how to get where I'm going because they know what traffic is like and can chose among route options as appropriate.
I use maps on trips over 65 miles. Very useful.
